So I've literally written off the idea of dropping $500 on a "custom" after getting my first 301. I've asked about other zt's and plan to pick up a 550 as soon as I move and get settled but for now I have 2 other 300's. One trade and just picked up a serrated blem from kershaw guy.

As I've gained such admiration for the 300's this is going to be my EDC and real working knife and I plan to send both the 300's out for paint jobs or whatever else I can find under good advice from experienced brothers here. I got an awesome price from up armored and looking for other options.

I honestly appreciate any advice I receive as I've never pimped a knife or owned one. Pictures would be awesome as well. If anyone knows specific ppl they've gone through here on BF or USN I'd love to keep it in house. Once I know what I'm doing I'll get before pictures and show afters in a new thread. Thanks BF.

1) bullet case for the lbs

2) polish the previous lbs

3) remove coating from screws (satin or polish)

4) buff the ti lock side and heat anodize.

5) polish the clip.

6) New back spacer. (TI, g10, glow)

7) remove speed assist and wave the blade. (not my cup of tea but I'm putting it out there).

8) Krein regrind

9) carbidize the lock face

10) remove the flipper and use thumb studs. (again, not my cup of tea)

and that's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Theres a few guys on the 'Custom Shop: Services Offered' subforum that do things like dura/cera coat and custom scales. I was looking for services about a week ago, just to know what my options were before I decided what 30X to buy and met a few people that seem to do alot of great work. I met people that offer to dura/cera coat the blade and scales, strip the blade and either stonewash it or blast it, custom scales of all kinds (G10, wood, carbon fiber). I really liked the smooth G10 and Scalloped G10. Regrinds are also offered, but not something that I was interested in. I ended up buying the 303, which I just bought so its on the way, but I like the looks too much to change anything, but still might get a smooth G10 scale in Tan... I love the way it looks from the guy who I talked to, it almost looks like wood when its smooth, you can see rings inside the G10 like wood. Eventually I know I will wear off the coating, and when that happens I will get the blade stripped and stonewashed, but until then Im happy.

I have a short list of people who make custom scales, dura/cera coat scales and blades, and strip blades and blast them or give them a satin finish. If you want the names and email addresses for them let me know in an email.

Keep us updated with how you customize your ZT 300, Id love to see the finished product.

Email sent, 100% plan on pix updates. Gotta spread the 300 love and give props to whoever takes the job.

There is one other mod nobody has mentioned, I dont know if you would be into it, but Ive seen a ZT 300 with added serrations. The serrations were done by a man named Tom Veff, if youre familiar with some CRKT knives that have those wicked looking Veff serrations, he's the guy who makes them.

Here is the address to a thread of the ZT 300 with Veff Serrations here on the forums.

Here is the address to a thread about adding Veff Serrations to your ZT 560, also has pictures of a ZT 300 with Veff Serrations, and pictures of both knives.
