I'm visiting Pigeon Forge TN this week and I have an opportunity to buy a knife at Smokey Mountain Knife Works. At the moment, I only own a few Case knives that I've acquired over the years. I'm looking for a traditional slip joint with a natural handle. I'm not too picky about the pattern because I'd like to get a few suggestions.

I would like to keep the suggestions to only natural-handled knives. I'm not interested in buying a tactical knife.

Were you in my position, what would you choose?

I'd like to spend $100 or less if possible.

Well, if you need a machete the Marble's are one of the best deals around. There are five or six different patterns to chose from.

I've ordered knives from their TV show when it was on and they showed pics of the show room. I don't think you'll have a problem choosing a knife you want. I think you will not have enough money to spend once you see it in person. Talk about a kid in a candy store, I hope for your sake the banks will be closed

I've never visited their showroom, but have ordered from them many times in the past.

They have a huge selection of Case knives, including exclusives. My favorite pattern is the Medium Stockman, and I generally look for Case knives offered in CV steel. I only buy Case knives in person now, as their quality can be hit-or-miss.

I would absolutely be scouring the shelves for any Boker knives with carbon steel, made in Germany. Like the beer barrel series.

They carry a few from Canal Street Cutlery. Excellent quality, natural handles.

Condor Knife and Tool?

See if they have much in stock from Great Eastern.

Mora? Helle? Opinel? Queen?

Just a heads-up, their prices aren't as competitive as they used to be. But still, I could find something of interest. :)

I am only about 50 miles from there and I really try to stay on the west side of Knoxville and not go on the East side as you can go "BANK"" broke there if you are not careful.!** They really like $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$there.!**<<<<<<<<

And our 9-10% sales tax rate along with SMKW high pricing on many items kind of sucks.

I was just there last summer on vacation. Place is huge, selection is amazing and the museum is very nice. But, they are a volume seller. Lots of budget, fast movers for cheap. The quality items are there but not at a discount and by the time you add tourist trap taxes your paying close to or over msrp!

I went there several times, as an offshoot of my vacation. I bought a folding multiblade knife, took it down to the tool-shop, where they ground one blade into a screwdriver tip as I had requested. I carried and used that screwdriver blade to adjust my linear accelerators for quite a few yrs before it fell out of my pocket and was gone.

That is like Disney World for knife junkies. Good luck and have fun, I'd say look into some GEC knives if you happen to see any.

SMKW's has the Opinel VRN (carbon) #6 or #7 for only $7.99 which is the lowest price I've found. That would be my pick.
