My first knife was a 556S and I'm still loving it, I like it small and sorta light in weight, perfect for me to EDC. After that I've owned quite a few different spyderco's and but now I found myself truly in love with the smooth action of a thumb stud ( I can "kick open" the blade with my thumb) and an axis. Sorry spyderco fans~ :)

Other than stud and axis lock, I'm also looking for:

1. G-10 handle, no metal handles
2. parallel blade top (like mini grip, meadowlark...) instead of wedge shape from top view ( para-military ) so I can sharpen the knife with my Gacto clamp set, the set doesn't work with any blade that doesn't start with parallel in thickness.
3. anything more upscale than 154CM, be it D2, M2, S30V and what not.
4. As small as possibble, but not a huge issue

I've seen there is a loooooong list of models within benchmade website and I'm having a hard time to pick the right one that fit all my needs. I've heard of 710D2 but that might be a little big for EDC, is there anything like that in smaller size? Thanx a whole lot in advance guys

i carry the 710 without any size problems. mini rukus may be a possiblility, buts a big bigger and heftier than that mini grip. but that 710 is about as sweet as it gets

thanx for the quick response guys, 707 seems like what I need but I noticed it has alloy handle scale, I'm not sure if the "paint" will stay on after a month or 2 if I use it daily? Any experience?

710D2 seems like a very good choice as I've read everyone is raving about it.

mini rukus is also a consideration but i will probably pick 710 over it as I like the appearance of 710 better.

Keep them coming guys!

i wouldnt let a little paint wearing off stop your from carrying an excellent knife. the mini presidio is an excellent little knife. its basically the mini grip but with much better scales. ive been using one for a few weeks not with no complaints. in my opinion its worth takin a look at:thumbup:

I don't know people seem to like that knife but the 710 is one of my all time favorites. The aluminum on the 707 should be absolutely fine. Even if scratches do appear it will just add character and you will become even more attached to it. 710 is a great way to start on your quest for the perfect knife. I haven't used the 707 but I imagine it is an awesome knife.
