Help me understand this fiddleback grind

I'm looking at picking up a KE Bushie. I found one from an authorized dealer that describes the knife's grind as "partial convex". Every other Fiddleback Forge knife I have seen has had either a convex grind or a Scandi grind. Could you guys please help me understand the reasons, pros and cons, of a partial convex grind?

Thank you,
Mike

My guess would be that the dealer is confused... Would need to see said knife listing to confirm most likely.

maybe because our knives are convex grinds w/ a secondary bevel & not a zero edge like on Bark River

i dunno

That's gotta be the answer. I looked at their other listings and all of the convex ground ones are listed as "partial convex". So I guess because your knives have a secondary bevel it's not a "full convex".

Nonethessless, Mish_Mike, all of the convex Fiddlebacks are ground the same way as far as I know!

@Odaon. Sent you another pm, but I think you can disregard it as your post above sort of explains it. I guess I had such tunnel vision for the KEB, but I didn't even bother to look at the grind descriptions for the other models. Thank you, sir.

I replied anyways! :D

They (and DLT, and others) always lose me on "blade thickness"-- all that math. :o :D

(Didja nab it?)

.093 = 3/32, which was the determining factor for me. I wanted a sub 4" blade in 3/32. Yes, I did nab it. The Rosewood burl is pretty purty.

Also, I'd like to pick one up in a 3/32 Scandi. However it seems those might be tougher to come by.

Not as tough as you might think. They pop up pretty often. When it comes to the scandi ground ones, the 3/32 is my favorite.
