Ok guys. I've been recovering from buying the TiLT, and I'm starting to save up for the next knife. But I can't decide. I have a couple of production knives I still have to pick up, like an 801, 301, 561, Spyderco K2 and I a few others. But I also really want a Strider. Should I finish crossing off the productions I need or just shoot straight for an SMF?

Shoot for the SMF, the money spent for the others on your list will get you a SMF. Then you won't be disappointed if you get the others first and maybe realize you should've gotten the SMF. I currently have the 561 and 801 and several SMF's. The 561 and 801 are sitting in the safe collecting dust. The SMF's get used.
The ones on your list are all good knives, So either way you go it's all good.

The only reason the 801 and 561 are in my list is because I know they would get carried a lot haha. I've narrowed my production list to just these few because I knew these would actually see pocket time.

but then again a Monkey Edge 3V CC all black SMF is mighty fine.....

I was the same way a few years ago, then I made the jump to knives in the $500 range. Now I carry a large Sebenza 95% of the time, and I'm looking into mid techs and customs in the $500-$1500 range now:eek:

Just be warned, that you will eventually have a $10,000 "most wanted list"...

I say get the Strider first. They are solid knives with a great handle. The fit and finish is pretty good and much better than most people say it is. I've had a few Striders and I highly recommend them.

The fit and finish of Strider has improved a great deal recently. I would recommend getting the SMF.

One thing to consider is that the 301 and the 561 are getting the axe next year and dealers have all ready started discounting. Right now is the time to buy. Because once the dealers run out of stock everybody and their grandmas second favorite nephew is going to the think they are "hard to find" and expensive. I would buy in while the iron is hot. Right now the 801 and the strider arent going anywhere. I would say that maybe if you bought the strider you wouldnt want another knife. But how many times have we all a said that?

True, but there's one specific SMF I'm looking for, a Monkey Edge exclusive which I already don't see too much. It's all black, got CC handles, and 3V. Oh well. I'll probably just get the ZTs first, I'm sure I'll find another Strider I like!
