I had this knife in tan leather. I never actually used it but it felt great in the hand. The handle was smaller that I thought it would be but the thing came sharp. Not to throw a wrench in your plan but the Tiburon is another to look at that is an amazing blade.

Between the two I would grab the leather. It'll build character and tell a story in time. It may require more maintance but it'll be worth it.

Share a pic when you decide and receive it.

Not sure what what you're asking do you need help deciding? I'd go for The Hess honestly, they're a great knife. Especially for the money.

I think for a working knife I would prefer the top blade with the leather handle of the lower knife . If you just want it for a Safe Queen then look at the Amboyna Wood too.
The Hess that I gave as a gift was an excellent knife and , I feel , a fine value and sharp as heck. I would have been happy to have held onto it for myself .
Please post pictures of what you get Tyler and thank you for asking our opinion.

Hmmmmm a little idea of what you'll be using the knife for will help with a decision. I've been looking at the Hess knives also, so I'd be interested to hear your opinion of them when you make a choice!

I THINK GEC does the blades for Hess. But I believe GEC sends out for heat treat. Like I say...I think that's true.
