Hi,
im new to this post and currently own a bear mgc its holding up well but i want to upgrade to a bench made , every one tells me to go buy a benchmade 42 but are there any other benchmade balisong's in that price range and where could i get them?
 
Benchmade used to have a lot of balisongs, but they don't make them anymore. The only benchmade balisong now is the 42. From the reviews I've read, you should get a 42. I'm getting one for x-mas.

It's pretty hard to get a Benchmade bali in the BM42 price range anymore. I say just get the 42.
 
Well ok maybe not a benchmad but does any one know where i could get custom for around the 100 dollar price range. quick before my christmas list fills up!!
 
Customs in the $100 range? I don't think so. You might be able to find a custom at a gun show for cheap if the seller knows nothing about it. Custom balis go for $250 and up. Why don't you want to get the 42? It's in your price range. You can order one for $112 from <a href = "http://www.cutleryshoppe.com">cutleryshoppe.com</a> and it comes with a free torx set.
 
I know a guy who will do a custom bali for that price. It won't be anything that is in the "oh my god its amazing" range, but it should be pretty nice. I am planning on getting one from him that will run just short of $200 as soon as I can get some cash togather, I was planning on doing that before I recommended him so I would have some idea bout his quality, but if you really want one, he will do it. Gonna be a wait of prolly 8-10 wks or more though to get it at the minute. If you want to give it a try, let me know via email and I'll hook you up with some info, he is pretty easy to talk with, and very good at giving info, and also is pretty quick to respond to emails (day and a half or less usually, barring any problems).
 
I really don't think you're going to be able to find a custom balisong for around $100 without going through a lot of work, and I doubt you'd get it before Christmas. I have never seen any custom balisongs for that cheap, but like JGardner said, maybe you could find a seller that doesn't know much about the knife and is trying to get rid of it.

Like I said before, just get the BM42.. it's the closest you'll get to a custom for the price.
 
Like I said before, it is possible to pick up a custom for around $100. And you won't have to go through a lot of work, tell him what you are looking for and price, he'll tell what price he can do what you are looking for and what he can do for your price range. Come to an agreement, get it done.
You WILL NOT be able to get it by Christmas though.
 
Hey i have found many custom balisongs for around a $100 at balisong.com and also some on ebay and they look like they are worth it. the problem is that there arnt any there now
 
The balisongs on balisong.com aren't really what I would consider custom. Yeah, they are made by hand, and no two are exactly the same, but still..

The knives go from one person to another like an assembly line, each making a part for the knife, or putting them together. The knives aren't made by one person, and aren't really that good of quality. They are nice though... but not worth the $100 you paid for them (in my opinion).
 
well... good luck sir.. they do eist ot there.. liek it was mentioned in the infamous magic that is gunlhows. Ofcourse it seems that you have a new task of 'definign' what it is you mean by a custom'.

IMHO you won't buy a 'custom' for $100 that will be any better if as good as a BM42, let alone have a factory warranty! I saw an anodized 42, that had been played with a little, sell on the forums for $100! Where was I when that went up?!?
