Help! Missing Knife.

A couple weeks ago I sent two knives back to Spyderco for service. I called yesterday to check the status and found out only they received one of the knives. The problem is I sent them in the same package. One of the knives is an Endura that I broke the tip off of in normal use and wanted reground. The second (the one that is missing) is an old black Police model I have owned for many years and wanted resharpened. I included a letter with them explaining what I wanted done with each. I do not understand why I was not informed right away at least that there was a knife missing. Both were in same package and I do not understand how one is lost. The customer service rep explained how the packages are handled when received and seemed to imply that it was not their fault. Now I do not know how to proceed with this. I just want my knife back. I know I sent it and I do not think there is any way I could have gotten lost in the mail becuase the package, I was told was intact when it arrived. Is it possible that it mistakenly thrown away with the box it came in? I would appreciate any advice or input. Thanks.

That's a tough first post!

Sal,

Can you help this poor knifenut out? This sounds like an unusual circumstance.

Did you send it UPS or USPS? I know this isn't what you want to hear, but there have apparently been instances of UPS employees ... pilfering... what's inside the packages of UPS Ground. In fact, I think UPS recently made it a policy to only send firearms via UPS air, because security was tighter through the UPS air chain. Interesting that the knife that made it was the 'plastic' handled one with the broken tip (or maybe not plastic handled?). While the one that disappeared was a Police model, with the biggest folding blade that Spyderco has produced (to the best of my knowledge), and a nice tip still apparently intact. Hmmmm....
Was the package insured?

I sent the knife USPS. I do not think the knife was stolen becuase it was old and kinda beat up not to mention completly dull. The Endura was almost new and the tip damage was slight so it would have been the one most likely to be taken. I really appreciate your help. Thanks.

Good luck, prisoner. It sucks to lose a knife.

Maybe we should make knife blades out of staples!
