Hi All,

I just purchased a MOD CQD today and I have a quick question...I notice that there is some "oil" at the pivot end of the blade...I have wiped off the oil and when I open and close the blade again it re-appears...is this normal or has the dealer tampered with the knife? Perhaps I am paranoid but it almost feels as if someone bought the knife, thought it was too tight, oiled it, and returned it...what should I do??

Thanks,
RL

That is very normal with many new knives. It just represents a bit of over-lubrication at the factory. Most of my folders have exhibited the same situation.

Just wipe off the excess as it "oozes" out over the next few days.

And relax and enjoy. :)

Phew!

Thanks guys...much consoled now :)

I agree..this is the biggest, baddest, meanest, mutha of a knife I have EVER seen...I swear I could take it apart and put it back together with my Emerson Commander INSIDE :D

Incidentally, this was a bit of an "impulse" purchase...I walked into a local knife store with a list of knives to look at...once I held the CQD in my hands though...
