I was opening my 9050 when I heard a clank well the spring broke:eek:. I contacted Benchmade and they are going to repair it. They have great service. The issue is that was my edc knife and the only one I had access to for another month for this. I need a replacement to fill the gap till I can ship it and during the repair. I am in South Korea for few more days and can get a select few knives. Here on base they have a few gerbers, leatherman, crkt and a Benchmade gription and spiderco Delicia. I am between the delicia a gription. The spiderco is a plain blade which I like. The Benchmade is a combo edge and well I have had several benchmade grips and liked them all. I have almost no dealing with spiderco. This was mostly due when I found one it was always serrated. How do they compare the BM has reverse tanto 154cm vs spiderco's VG-10? I just not sure which is better suited for edc. The benchmade sells 74.95 vs spiderco 109.95.I expect it to be 2-3 monthes till I get the 9050 back. I have no problem if I find I like the new one better the 9050 can sit at home:D. Thanks for any input.

Oh come on go to ittaewon or namdaemun and buy a knife or go downtown and get a mcusta or other seki product from one of the department stores. There are SAKS available but some others might require a permit which a friendly native can get for you for a small consideration. This only holds for folders though fixed blades and in general any honking scary looking stabbers are not welcome in ROK.

Your knife is an auto but I'm guessing you're in the military? I don't think your knife has a serious (hard to fix) problem the turn around time shouldn't be 2-3 months. I would say honestly 3 weeks tops. I've turned 2 knives over to benchmade to fix and it was generally about 3 weeks. But for a backup its a no brainer get the griptillian.

I would say get the grip only because of the price. I like the delica better but it almost twice its usual price there :O

The reason I say 2-3 months is due to the fact I am leaving korea. I will be bouncing around for the next month or so after that till I get to next duty location. Then I can send off to have it repaired. I thought it was a little high I found the Stainless Delica running round 75-80 not sure why thet want 109 for it here.

OK so the knife was picked for me they didnt have the Delica which I was going to price match. I got the BM 550 now I get to sharpen her up and put her to use. I was looking forward to getting the Delica to give spyderco a try. I do have a endura OIF special run that was a given to me through their Knife for Soldiers lottery I think it is called. However it was never sold to public so I keep it in my collection. I have lots of respect for them I just never used one. Hmmm What about their military what are you thoughts. I am wanting a plain edge spyderco to see what I think of them. Thanks for the help.

you always can just fix it yourself. the 9050 was one of the easiest auto to repair. might be cheaper for you in the long run. which spring broke? there are two,the big one that opens and close the blade.and a little spring that works the push-button. usually it's the big spring. you will need torx-wrenches to open it up. then, BE SURE NOT TO LOSE THE LITTLE SPRING! then measure the big spring. there is a site www.knifekits.com. that has springs. i would order two or three just to be safe. then put it together. :) i hope this helps.
