I received my Meyerco Sharpen-It today and after trying it out on two hunting kinves and two filet knives I am at a total loss to explane what happened. Not only did in NOT sharpen these blades to a razor sharpness as advertized, it actually dulled the crap out of every knife I used it on.:( :(

Before anyone asks, I fallowed the dirt simple directions to the letter. I mean how much simple can it get than just lightly stroke a blade through the sharpening wheels? I mean it just didnt dull the knives a little it litterally turned these knives into light weight bricks. It took me a considerable amount of re-sharpening with bench stones to return them all to a decent level of sharpness. Although I am certainly no expert, I can put a forearm hair shaving sharp edge on a knife made out of quality steel. The knives I tried to sharpen with the Sharpen-It are the fallowing. None of which were all that dull before I tried to resharpen them.

I tried to call Meyerco, but thay were closed, so I will try again on monday. I bought this sharpener based on a glowing recammendation I read here.

So what do you all think is the problem? I have given this sharpener a concise going over and it seems to be 100% perfect working order, with nothing out of alignment or dammaged what so ever. I most likely will return it for a refund.

Thoughts on this matter?

Chip,
None of the knives were all that dull, thay were all rather sharp, blade undammaged, but not shaving sharp, and the Sherpen-it advertizes it can make a blade razor sharp in seconds. The Master hunter was actually brand new and and I dulled it some what, only a little realy by cutting paper, just to test the Sharpen-It. I sure am glad I did not use it on my BlackJack or ATS-34 Buck knives.

Chip,
I have other sharpeners like the "Firestone" that use the same sharpening tecnique and I lightly used only enough pressure to stroke the blades accross the disks on the Sharpen-It. None of the knives i sharpened were dammaged in any way. Im not exaggerating one bit when I say the Meyerco Sharpen=It effectively turned ALL the knives I sharpened with it listed above into letter openers, and dull ones at that!

The Meyerco Sharpen-It itself apperes to be in perfect working order with no sines of dammage or anything out of place at all. I am going to call Meyerco on Tuesday.
