I have a small Sebenza that has prior owners intials engraved ..

I figured it was a good deal and a great user.

Was thinking of covering with micarta /wood etc Not sure what to do ??

I could leave it not a big deal but curious as to options

Depending on where the engraving is at, you could creativly cut some skateboard tape for a grippy feel.

I think the best way to deal with it would be to change your name to match those initials.

That would be the most eco friendly way to handle it, no wasted metal!

You could have it engraved to show/say something else or add texturing or depending on how deep the engraving is, maybe sand it out.

I conpletelt agree wit esav!

but if you insist on keepin your name you'd have to go to some kind of custom maker to mod your scale, or contact rk about a new one.

I'm guessing that the initials are on the outside of the front scale? I've seen a couple F/S here that were engraved inside the front scale but that wouldn't be an issue.

You could replace the front scale with one in another material. There are quite a few that have been done this way by forum members. You can research old threads and see pix in the CRK subforum. Or you could have CRK replace the scale with a new one for you if one is still available.

Depending on what the initials are, you can add more engraving to change the meaning to something else.
For instance, if it was "HE", you could engrave it to say "HEY whats up dude?" or something totally rad like that.

Someone posted a couple pictures of an extremely cool mod which involved drilling a shallow textured pattern into the surface of the Ti scales of their sebenza. I wish I could remember who posted them, but I'm sure they're in the 'modified knives' thread somewhere. I'll go digging for it when I have a bit more time.

It's a pretty extreme option, but it looks cool as hell imho. It would certainly remove any engraving.

name change sounds good !

skate tape would be perfect .

Only thing is finally got the sebe and it's a lefty ! I guess I'm a Pretty dumb sob not to notice b/4 bidding.
to my defense it is double studded

Maybe no wasted metal, but imagine the number of trees that will have to be cut down to supply the paper for the name change.

Send it back to CRS and ask him to put new handles on it.

There was a modestly amusing cartoon in the New Yorker years back. It had two guys talking to each other at a cocktail party. One is looking at the other's tie and saying, with a sort of disdainful face, "If my mother had wanted me to wear ties with 'YSL' on them, she would have named me Yves Saint Laurent." ;)

I recall seeing that same mod done to a stainless handled Delica and it was the first thing that came to mind when reading the first post. It solves the initials problem and improves the grip of the handle.

Depending how deep the engraving is, you could grind or machine the scale(to remove the lettering), then blast the scale with aluminum oxide, it will look as new.

True. That was a thought, though it may be possible to file e-documents or something.
