Hi All,
I am looking for a source that I can buy a small velvet drawstring type pouch from.

My wife wants to purchase a Case MOP Peanut but is concerned about it getting scratched up in her pocketbook.
*Note-I have no doubt that it will get scratched in that thing. You guys with girls know what I'm talking about. Don't 'ya?

She is not interested in the zippered pouches that are available as they (even the smallest) are too big for inside her pocketbook.
*Second Note-Space in the pocketbook is at a premium. Again, those who know.......know what I'm saying here.

This will be her first knife purchase (I'm finally cracking this Knut

) and the velvet drawstring pouch might be the deal breaker.

So guys (& girls), please help me out. I want to reel in this one.

Any info will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Just a slip pouch with a drawsting... Hmm. My wife and I made a knife roll with velvet type lining on the inside and jean material on the outside and we were able to get the material at pretty much any of the fabric stores. It would take but 5 minutes or so to sew it up on a sewing machine if you made it yourself and the measurements would be exact as you could just trace the shape of the blade on the fabric then mate two together and sew them then turn it inside out. Then all that would be left would be putting in the string which you just pull through with a large needle. Then you have your custom slip pouch for probably less than $3. Don't know if I've ever seen any others that are so small. Hope you get something that works.

Or... If you have any friends in the bar business or who drink 'Royal Crown' has a larger velvet pouch that comes with it and you could cut it down to fit.

Thanks guys for all of the suggestions.

Emanym Ton,
I don't know why we didn't think of making one ourselves as the wife is pretty crafty. I mean she's handy with the craft stuff. Yeah......that's what I meant to say.

Paul,
The jewelry and the new age store are also excellant suggestions that, again, I can't believe that we overlooked.

Para,
G2...I never considered him for this one. He's on my list when I get my WH Searpoint (hopefully this summer for my b-day).
I'll have to show the wife. Maybe she'll dig his sheaths. I know I do. Good suggestion.

Thanks again guys.

Raptor, Gary's web site only shows his fine leather work. But my daily carry rides in a small orange velour pouch that Gary gave me at the Chesapeake show last month. It has a fold over velcro closure. I'm sure he could make one for a small fee. He also makes simple pouches in very soft deer skin. That might be just the thing for your wife's knife. Email him and ask.

Thanks Paracelsus, but I didn't make that one, but had bought it at a knife show a while back and thought you could use it. I don't sew soft material like that, I do make some slip sheaths out of soft deerskin though and they are glued and hand stitched as well.

Raptor, good luck with that Spearpoint if you get it, great knives by William Henry!

Yeah, I guess it would be tough to get the cans of Royal Crown cola out of the machine with that bag wrapped around them?!

Guess that tells everyone what a party aminal I am? On the flipside though I can tell everyone who 'Harry Potter' is and recite verses and verses of Dr. Seuss!

Just checking back in on this post. I've been out all day.

Paracelsus you tease!!
After reading your last post I got all excited and was going to email Gary and ask about a pouch. (That deerskin situation sure sounded good.)

Then Gary responds and answers the questions before I even had a chance to ask.

Gary, regarding the WH Spearpoint, if I get it........you'll be the first to know.

I love your sheaths!!!

Thanks again guys for your help.

Whoops,

it looks as if I missed something on the first "read-through" of these posts.

I just re-read Gary's post and it appears that he does work with deerskin.

Gary, check your mail. I'm off to send off one right now.

Para, forgive me sir, you are not a tease after all. You know off what you speak!!
Good form my good man!!

For impromptu projects such as protective pouches or a quick pocket holster, I've used ordinary felt pads hand-stitched with heavy button thread.

You can pick up 12" X 12" felt pads at any fabric store for pennies. A little thoughtful layout, a few snips with scissors, staple the material temporarily, and stitch it up while you're watching TV.

Smokey Mountain Knife Works has them in several sizes for knife collectors and they are fairly cheap. give them a call or check the web site. Weldonk
