Help- need leather hilt / handguard for rattan sticks...

I saw one of these once on a website for Arnis or for sticks, can't remember who might have carried them. A friend is going to do single stick-fighting classes; he's a fencing teacher and would like a basket-hilt type of hand-guard on these sticks he buys so that they resemble, kinda, a sabre. The ones I saw weren't overly fancy or anything; they just gave you a visual aid for where you'd have the 'edge' of a sword and also gave you some decent hand protection.
Anybody know of any websites or leather-workers who might handle this kind of thing?
Thanks!

Something like this?

If this is what you're looking for try the western martial arts sites.

This example comes from http://www.woodenswords.com/WMA/index.htm

Has anyone here ever used these? I'm curious as to how they would hold up against a solid hand shot. I was told by the manufacturer that it does provide maximum mobility and safety too. I guess that was enough to make me buy one so if anything I'll post a review if no one else has tried it out.

Thanks! I do have that link, but I remember seeing something simpler; still, I'll pass it along.

Kelt,

Could you be talking about the Lameco Eskrima Hand Protectors? I realize your looking for leather but I have seen what appears to be customwork fashioned from these.
