I am looking for some coil springs to fit in an automatic knife I am considering producing. I talked to Josh at PVKnives and he pointed me in the direction of a person who made some springs for him. All I have is an e-mail address of Autoknife@onecom.com Has anybody heard of this person. I sent an e-mail but have not had a reply yet. I was told he was the best. Does anyone know someone else who makes springs?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi CAL,

Why don't you just make your own springs?

You can buy various types of wire for this use from "Small Parts". I don't have their catalog with me at the moment, but I think you can find them on the net. (I jsut found them, www.smallparts.com - they don't list it there, but I have seen the stuff in the catalog; you may want to call them).

If not drop me an e-mail and I will get the address and phone number for you.

Best regards,

Darren

CAL,
Give Rade Hawkins a call. He is a knifemaker and supplier. He carries the special cutters
and such for making autos. He may have what you need.

Rade Hawkins

Hope this helps.

try mcmaster carr (ph: 732-329-3200) they have chrome-vanadium springs, that will outlast other springs, are stronger, for a faster action, and rust resistant.

Thanks for the replies.

I gave McMaster a call, they really tried but I could not explain well enough over the phone what I wanted. They really need a part number.

Then I gave Rade Hawkins a call. He was able to help me big time. Nice guy to do business with.

Thanks again for all your help.

i can help you, is it a coil spring, if so i need the o.d. i.d. and lenght. then i can look one up, find the part number and price and your ready to go. buy as many as you like. if it does end up being something you don't want, you can return it to, unlike some knife supply places.
