Hello all,

Gotta have a birthday gift for someone this weekend.. The budget is $50.00. I know that sucks, but I'm sure someone knows of some great values within that limit. Folders, fixed's, doesn't matter.

Thanks much!

Lowes in my town has the Case CopperLock in a Wharncliff blade with the Orange handles on it. Great knife with Case's Super CV steel. Right around $50 too. I would recommend the CV steel to anyone anyday of the week over the Case Stainless crap.

The CopperLock mentioned above is a good suggestion. If you think a larger knife is also ok, you might look at the Buck 110.

If you are someone who shops at Wal*Mart, they have a fairly large selection of Buck Knives, and, although I haven't looked recently, I believe that they are all under $50. For folders you could get the Buck 110 Folding Hunter for about $30 or a Buck Alpha Folding Hunter for about $50 (probably a bit over $50 with sales tax...). If you want a fixed blade, you could get a Buck Diamondback 3.25 for around $25, and a 4.25 for approximately $30. Diamondbacks are made in Taiwan, if that's a factor that would affect your choice. The Buck 119 Special Hunter runs about $35.

The Buck 110 lockback and the Buck 119 Special fixed blade are both Made in U.S.A., and have been Buck Knives' biggest sellers for many years. All Buck Knives are backed with a lifetime warranty.

Hope this helps,
GeoThorn

Any of the Spyderco FRN-handled folders are a great deal, all priced around $45, give or take a few dollars. A lot of the Kershaw Onion series are within that range as well, along with the Benchmade Red series line-up.

Kershaw mini mojo..only because i want one =) Has there new locking system and speed safe opening, always fun. 50 55 bucks me thinks

I love my Buck 112. Love that wood and brass. :)

After looking at the mini mojo upon Shiv's suggestion, I ran into an all black kershaw leek for 40 bucks (ebay) & grabbed it.

Thanks to everyone who contributed. I'll refer back to this thread for ideas for future buys.

Benchmade Monochrome 10300
Worth twice the price IMO, a really elegant piece, very nicely finished, timeless design.
