Im trying to decide weather to get a benchmade 551 Griptilian, 580 Barrage,a520 prestido or a 522 prestedo ultra. all are manual except the barrage which is assisted, i dont know if i will like the assisted opening. i have a mini grip and i love every single thing but the small size. thank you!

The 522 has a blade of 440c (which isn't bad, but the others have better blade steels). Its handles are made of noryl gtx. The 551 and 580 both come with valox handles and 154cm steel. The 520 also has 154cm steel but comes with aluminum handles. Synthetic handle material generally wears better than metal. Most people here favor synthetic over alloy handle materials.

Having said that, I'd pick from this bunch: 551, 580, or 520 purely based on the blade steel. 440c is good, but not as good as 154cm IMO. Some custom makers still make a mean 440c blade that performs just as well as the 'super steels.'

My favorites out of those listed are the grip and the presidio. I personally would go with the griptilian because it is the best value by far.

I own a BM 551 plain edge griptilian and it made me fall in love with Benchmade products. I still play with the axis lock all the time. It saved my butt when my little girl wanted to cut up the cardboard at the trash can outside at night. She wanted to make a slice through to break down a box. I did not see that she was pushing down on the spine kind of hard. When my brain registered she had the knife upside down I almost dropped a load in my pants, but the lock held, and she was safe, even from dumb ol' me. Thank you BM's Axis lock! I do not have a presidio, but hmmm, maybe one day.

Get a grip!
(only reason I'm in this thread is to see when the first 'millie' will be mentioned... :D other than by me of course )
Seriously though, the 551 is just great.
