Hi, I have in my possesion a bayonet sheath that looks like the fiberglass M1 sheth or the M8A1 sheath but the fiberglass part is made entirely from some kind of tropical hardwood. the webbing is standard old cotton and it has the brass (blackened) attaching thing for the alice system.
The wood is so beautifully finished and copies the plastic/fiberglass/metal sheath so exactly even the fine lines on the "top" of the bayonet sheath are exactly the same as on the "normal" sheaths that I don't think it's made by an individual for fun.
Does anybody know of these sheaths being produced for e.g. presentation purposes in dark tropical hardwood ?
Hopefully somebody can help me here, I'll try making a picture with a digital camera and post it.
