Help Needed Identifying Dagger

Hoping this isn't a nuisance, and being completely new to the dagger/knife community, I'm in need of assistance from those much more versed in edged weapons than myself. I have inherited the dagger pictured below along with quite a bit of other family history artifacts, and am interested in learning as much about it as I possibly can. As far as provenance is concerned, most of the items with which it was found were related to 19th and early 20th century New Orleans and Alabama. Two prospective owners might have fought in the Civil War, but I can't be sure that the dagger is even from that era? Any help at all that might be provided is much appreciated, and I hope sincerely that this forum is the right place to put such a thread.

Thanks so much in advance!

Philippines commemorative dagger. Frequently sold to G.I.s as a souvenir.

Pommel is made from a cartridge case.

Thanks for the quick reply! I'm not so sure about the pommel though. After closer examination, it appears to only resemble a cartridge case..
