Ive been into knives for about 2 months but recently started buying. I have a Spyderco Sage 1 that i got on ebay for $100 shipped. Its excellent and its solid! Cant say the same for my 1st Benchmade. I recently bought a Benchmade 943 and although its a nice knife, it has play. Like if I were to shake the knife from its open position, i can feel it. What do i do to remove it? I feel like a noob because I tried tightening it with BM's toolkit but cant find a sweet spot. Do I call benchmade? Cuz if im gonna be dropping $135 on a knife I believe it should be solid. Not wobbly. Will the warranty cover it? I have the box and everything and have no Idea on what im supposed to do. I tried looking on their site but got confused so I figure ill just ask the experts. :D

Tighten and lube the pivot. With the axis lock you will almost always run into some blade play, it will just loosen over time. If you cant find the "sweet spot" and the knife is new, and has a black coating on the blade you gotta break it in a little bit and finding that spot will be significantly easier.

Its a satin finish btw and was NIB. Wouldnt doing that void the warranty or something?

I have taken all of my knives apart for cleaning and general curiosity and never had an issue. But then again, I have been carrying some of my knives for 8 years and never needed warranty work. Also nothing I advised you to do would void anything. Get some benchmade blue lube and call it a day.

Yeah I Say Lube And Tighten The Pivot Too.
No This Will NOT Void Your Warranty.
Knife Companies Know Knives Need Tightened And Lubed Lol.
If You Cannot Fix It By Lubing And Tightening And Trying To Break It In...
Send It Off To Benchmade And They'll Fix It.

I Understand Wanting A Knife To Be Solid. Just Spent Around $126 On A Spyderco Chokwe And Would Have Been Very Disappointed Had It Shown Up With Play Or Something.
