I don't know if this is the right place to post this but I need help. If it's out of line, moderators please feel free to move it to the appropriate forum. Thanks!

I have a laptop I bring to work with me and a home putor that the wife uses. We comunicate when I'm out of town mostly by ICQ. I had sent her a picture from a site I was on and when she clicked on it, it loaded something on our home putor that is called gohip! It's a browser that is porn related. While it is appropriate on my laptop, it's not on my home computor that my children use. I know there is someone out there alot smarter than me that can help me fix this before we have to reformat our hard drive and use up many hours redoing things. Here are the symptoms and if you have any ideas on how to remove this annoying site I would be most appreciative! Thanks in advance!

I'm running Win 98 on a PC.

back in December, i was sent a link to a site thru ICQ (I dont remember what it was now) but ever since then, I get this site called *gohip* and it set itself up as my default home page, and it will also bring up page after page of other commercial sites. When I close a page, another one opens up.

I have previously deleted my entire netscape and got the new ver6 (hated that one) but still had the same problem with that gohip.com

so then I deleted ver 6, and downloaded ver 4.7 but we still have the problem.

I've dumped all my cookies and emptied the cache, thinking that I've eliminated the problem, but even though if I do a *find* for anything gohip related, it comes up empty (no files found)

I know it has to be deep somewhere in my computer, but I can't seem to find it.

every day we have to reset our default home page, and once the PC is rebooted, it is back again.

Here is the exact URL that loads itself.

"PLEASE" don't go to this site!

I don't want anybody to get this problem!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am thinking maybe seeing the URL, something might stand out as the problem.

Super long deadly link

I left 1 of the t's in the hypertext transfer protocal link out so it doesn't form the URL

Thanks again! CJ

Edited by Para to fix the scrolling screen of death caused by that super long link and to remove the link altogether since you say it is BAD NEWS (why post the thing here?)

You may have downloaded a piece of malicious javascript or something along those lines that set's your homepage to this continually - but I doubt it.

After you deleted Netscape off your computer, did you use any registry cleaning software? There may be a code in your registry that is affecting this...
