i just traded for two balisongs from the philipenes and
they are tight as normal.could someone tell me how to
break them in so they will operate correctly.

There might be a thread or directions on some site, but basically, lots of flipping, flexing, and working. It usually takes around 5-6000 flips, or 4-5 hours constant flipping.

Flex the handles perpindicular to the way they swing so that it makes the fork of the handle wider, do it firmly and it won't take several hours (more like 10-20 minutes for me) but don't do it as hard as you can....you might break the forks.

Clay has a very good method using a wide-bladed slotted screw driver. It is somewhere in "Tips and Tricks" on his site.

Just takes a few minutes. Have fun with 'em!!
