Hi folks, I'd like to take my mini-griptilian apart, to give it a good clean and just to look at the insides because it's neat.

Any advice, tricks, tips, or warnings? Or is it really as simple as "unscrew all the torx screws"?

:D

Ok, I took my mini-grip apart and put it back together again. It was pretty easy.

Warning! This may void your warranty, cut your fingers into gibblets, and make your wife smell bad! Don't Do It!

Remove the clip by unscrewing the three T6 screws that hold it on.

Take out the remaining seven T6 screws and the scales come off. Now it's just the steel liners, the lock, and the blade and washers, held together by the pivot pin.

The last screw is the pivot, a T10 sex bolt (I think that's the term for it). Unscrew it, and the blade and the two washers come out. Dont lose the washers! Note that the barrel of the pivot pin has a flat side on the outside of its body, which mates with a flat part in the pivot-hole in the liner. This keeps the barrel from turning when you turn the pivot screw.

Lift the little tab on the omega springs out of the liners, and gently unhook them from the locking bar.

Slide the locking bar back and it comes out of an opening in the liners.

Reverse the steps for reassembly. Be gentle with the springs. Clean all the screws and put a dab of blue loctite on the threads.

The only tricky bit is threading the pivot pin through the blade and washers. Here's how I did it:

Lay the barrel on the table, head down so the body is pointing up. Line the flat part of the barrel body up with the flat part of the pivot-hole in the liner. Lower the liner until just a little bit of the barrel body pokes in to the space between the liners. Put on the first washer. It helps to have a pointy tool like a toothpick to line things up through the hole in the top liner. Lower the assembly more to poke more barrel body though, and install the blade. More barrel and add the last washer. Once everything's in place, lower the liners the rest of the way down. Poke the T10 screw into the barrel body through the top liner and screw it together.

Tighten the pivot screw until all the horizontal blade play is gone, but leave it loose enough that the blade moves freely and smoothly.
