Hello
Even though the BM 970 has been one of my EDC for a good while, I am not used to EKI products and just received a cople folders from a fellow forumite.
One is a CQC7B, gray serrated blade, black G-10, year 99, #473
The other is a SOCFK, black serrated blade, green G-10, year 2001, #197
Can someone tell me more about the serial numbers - how many knives of each model get them, etc - as I am curious about it?
Otherwise, the pieces are quite solid and very well designed and I am very satisfied with them. My next may very well be - you guessed! - a Commander. If Only EKI would make them full chisel ground...

EKI used to number the first 1000 or so pieces.

In late 2000 or early 2001, if I recall correctly, they began serializing every knife. This practice continues today.

Thanks for your quick replies, gentlemen.
According to your information, John, it means that the earleir models were numbere on the first 1000, then were not numbered, then started being numbered again? If so, there is a limited quantity of non-numbered pieces of a few models, right?
Also, can you help me out on the sequence in wich the EKI models were released? I think the Ravena and CQC7 were the first ones but can't be sure about the rest.
Regarding the chisel commander, I asked ernest about it at The Blade Show 2000 and he mentioned this possibility but, since it has not showed up until now, I suppose it should be unlikely that it will ever exists - but one can aways hope...

To the best of my recollection, EKI knives were introduced in this order. This may not be totally accurate, but it is probably pretty close. I think John may have a better idea of it.

CQC7 (Benchmade)
Raven (I really don't know if the tanto or the spearpoint was first)
Specwar (production folding knife)
Commander (1998)
CQC7 (Emerson)
Mach-1
SOCFK
SARK/PSARK
Mini CQC7
Mini Commander
Commander (2002)
Super Commander
CQC8??

If someone can fine tune this list, it would be appreciated.

malazo, you always have the good info. ;)

But you forgot a couple:

CQC7 (Benchmade)
Raven (I really don't know if the tanto or the spearpoint was first)
Specwar (production folding knife)
Commander (1998)
La Griffe
CQC7 (Emerson)
Mach-1
PUK
SOCFK
I&I Tanto
SARK
PSARK
White Water Rescue
Mini CQC7
Mini Commander
Blackbird
Commander (2002)
Super Commander
CQC8??

The CQC8 and the Tactical Persian have been introduced into the line, but are not "to the public" yet. These should be along in less then six to eight weeks.

The Kandihar has been introduced, but the production version should be with us in January-ish.

The Folding Kerambit is in the pipes, no exact release date yet.

Thanks a lot - now things are clearer to me.
A couple more questions: were the green bladed versions standard in any moment? What about thumbless versions, like a thumbless Commander in EKIs site, wree these part of EKI's line or strictly special editions?

Green G10 scales are a standard cataloged item as of about a year and a half ago.

EKI made a very, very limited run of some "variations". The diskless Commander and the waveless Commanders are examples of this.

Last I heard the diskless Commanders were a one time deal and have been sold out for about a year. But you never know what get's found laying around. :D

Thanks for the further info John. What would we do without you?
If you want to get down to it, there are quite a few variations on a bunch of the knives. I know the list I have is not fully exhaustive, but I believe some of them may include the following. I do not guarantee of this information. Most of these were special runs, and may or may not be available from EKI

-Ravens with different colored handles (there was a rumor that some of them were glow in the dark)
-Ravens, Specwars, CQC7, Mach-1, Commander, SOCFK with Green-T blades
-Commander with a seat belt cutter attachment
-Waveless Commander
-Diskless Commander
-Commander with the Logo on the back side

If we want to add the fact that there were some knives made with special logos
-Trident (I believe Ernie ONLY does these for authenticated members of the Naval Special Warfare Teams)
-HK logo
-POLICEONE.COM
-Armed Forces Journal

There are probably some others. These are simply some that I have seen.

EKI has probably made hundreds of different configurations of knives, just by varying something cool.

Malazo, thank you Sir.

There were some "Glow in the dark" Ravens. There is even one in the case in the lobby at EKI. ;)

The linecutter Commanders was a special thing Ernie did on only three knives, for some Boat Team guys. Yhet were production 2000s as I recall. I got to handle and photograph one at last years SHOT show. Out-F'n-Standing

In addition to the logos you mentioned I've seen "Wilcox" lasers & H&K.

Here are more

Again, thanks for the information, guys - especially you, John.
Talking about Ravens, I Have one on my way, too. Maybe I try it as my EDC along with the Police and 970 when it gets here.
