Does anybody have any experience with or know anything good or bad about the Benchmade model 921 switchback
and the Cold Steel Classic stockman ?
I saw them in Blade and I am in LOVE again
thanks
Jack

The 921 is my next. Never considered the CS. But if you like traditional styled, then the CS, or look at Kershaw Doublecross. They have a double bladed liner locked in AUS-8( Not sure )

But with the 921 I get:
Axis lock
S30V steel main blade - resist stains better then ATS34 or 154CM and great for the intended applic
Alum handle - no stains and the blue anodising have to be seen.
Smaller blade in 440C just the right size paired with the main blade.

There have been reports of the small blade on the 921 hitting against the sliplock spring and dulling the blade. You might want to check into that before purchasing. Maybe it was just the early production models. Otherwise,a very nice knife.

I handled a 921 and found it to be somewhat slippery in the hand. Overall it seemed well built and a very nice Gentlemens knife. If you are thinking of a knife for Ranch duty you may want to consider some others....:)

921 is an awesome knife with a very useful blade shape. Only complaints I have are:

1. Not enough texture to the handle. Makes for a somewhat slippery grip when opening and closing.

2. As mentioned earlier, the small blade will hit the spacer and dull the edge if you let inertia close the blade. I had to reprofile the edge, and now am very conscious about closing it slowly to prevent it from happening.

921 is a nice knife IMO feels good in the hand and looks great and the Wharnclif blade is just cool. I hate to say this since we sell them but the CS stockman I would stay away from, the handles are cheap materials and the knife overall is just blah.
A Case stockman with handles material of your choice would be a better bet.

I wouldn't even bother with a Case Stockman....go with the Buck 301 or the Schrade Old Timer variety. Both are nice working knives that will cost less and hold a better edge IMO.

UGH I can maybe see the Buck over the Case but the Schrade? No way that’s like comparing Benchmade to Taylor cutlery. Case Stockman’s don’t cost much more than a Buck or a Schrade and are better made by far that the Schrade, now Buck knives have come along way recently and I won't knock them down at all matter of fact they are quite impressive in the what you get for what you pay comparison, but I think this is in their fixed blade lineup not their folders. All this is of course just IMO.
