Help or info on a Case knife

Hello all,
I normally wouldn't start a whole thread just for I.D help, but I've searched and searched and googled. Bubkiss.
I have what is clearly a DU279 Ducks Unlimited Case pen knife.
But I cant seem to find another online like this. Not sure if it was something sold, something given away, or just a strange aftermarket item.
It must have been re-covered?
It has "Ohio Flint" covers, and came with a little tag in the box, describing Ohio Flint?
I wonder was this done for a give away, or raffle, or something of the type.
It does not have a Case shield, so obviously done after the fact?

Any help or info would be great. I've only just started with "traditionals" about a year ago, and simply can't find any online info about this one. It's absolutely stunning, the pics are bad because I had to compress them. Thanks all!

Definitely doesn't look like a Case handle, no shield and no pins.
Sometimes companies buy cheaper knives and re handle them in some exotic material and re sell them.
Looks like something you'd find in a souvenir shop or jewelry store.
I reserve the right to be wrong :D

Yeah, I was thinking Jeweler perhaps also. Mostly though because of their mention in the little tag.

The little tag was obviously made to fit in the box. Perhaps for sale purposes, or raffle purpose.
It feels like that rules out the random owner, having it re-covered by random guy thought.

DU may have ordered them as a "free gift reward" for joining DU.
Case would hold the shield and pins if that is how DU ordered so many hundreds or thousands of knives for that membership and/or donation drive.

That was an idea I had also, and thought maybe somebody "remembers when" they were given away. Membership prizes, raffle prizes and such. Like NRA gifts and such

At the same time, I feel like if there were hundreds or thousands, I would have been able to find at least ONE example or mention of it online. Or here even, if there were hundreds or thousands, surely someone in this community would know about it.
Idk?

Very pretty knife, someone went through some effort to do the recover. Flint is a very hard stone, as a type of quarts its in the top 4 hardest minerals. I imagine it would take someone whith some skill to cut and polish it in such a fine manner. I'm going with the jeweler theory, maybe a jeweler picked up the Ducks unlimited knife and decided to make a set covers as a show piece. Or to resale as a gift item.

Yeah, I'd have to be leaning that way. If it were an edition for DU....then I should be able to find another. Thanks for the insight as to the Ohio Flint!
