Hello, recently I have become interested in purchasing a knife for myself, how ever Im not going to pretend to know more than I do and could use some advice. I plan on taking a solo camping trip in the near future, and im looking around for a meaty knife that I could use for a variety of things, cutting wood, brush, bone etc. so it's main use would be for chopping.

Obviously the macete fits the bill, but I did think it might be a little too big for what im wanting to do. After looking around the net I discovered a knife originally used and made by the Ghurkas of Napal, you guys know this as a Ghurka Kukri knife. Anyhow the first thing that I noticed about the knife was (ill admit it im a sucker for looks) it's badass shape, I read further and found out that the bend in the blade has something to do with the weight of the blade for chopping?

Anyhow, am I headed in the right direction? Should I persue this Kukri knife or look into something else all together? If I should go with the Kukri, do you guys know of any particular manufacture I should go with or a good online retailer? Sorry if you guys get flooded with noobs asking you stupid questions like this, I really diddnt know where else to ask.

Thanks in advance, and great site :)

Welcome! These guys (and a few girls) will be more than happy to help you out with any and all khukuri questions. They're truly outstanding knives, tough as nails and very effective. Addictive too; I haven't counted lately, but there are more than five and less than ten of them in my apartment.
