Hi guys i'm new here and a knife nut. I'm looking for a custom folder with a 3-4" blade and a pocket clip.(carry in my back pocket) I've had nice emersons and spyd's but I'd like to upgrade to a custom knife that is a little more attractive. Also the blade has to be half and half. I wear a suit to work and my emerson super gets odd looks. I've looked on ebay but i'm not in the 8-900 market. I'd like to keep it 300.00 and under. The knife doesn't have to be new. Just looking for opinions on what you guys might suggest. Thanks in advance.

tapout,Talk to Barry Burger of www.swordcane.com He may be able to do a special blade for you,1/2 n 1/2 ? Do you mean 1'2 serrated?

thanks for all the websites guys.. i'm on them now checking them out...is it me or am i the only one who wants a custom folder with a half serrated blade and a clip

Well, I do not care for serrations on my Custom knives. I DO like pocket clips on my kknives.I can't speak for anyone else.

Not necessarily a 'custom' but you might be able to pick up a decent used Sebenza for that price... give or take. (just a thought to look at)

Don't like serrations, do like a pocket clip for a user.
There are many options: I'd look at the "for sale" forum and the aforementioned retail sites. Don't rule out Sebenza and Strider - both very good, hard use folders but not "custom" by some standards. Your best bet would be to try and get to a knife show and play with a few. There's a good show in New York this weekend.

If you want serrations, go Spyderco.

Serrated custom knife blades are not very sought after, and they do not add to the look of the piece.

For users, it is better to have two knives, on full serrated, one plain. That way, you can get a practical compromise.

my bradley alias 2 isnt a custom but its well built and has a partially serrated blade-
not scary looking-

Kit Carson does an occasion partly serrated blade but it's unlikely you'll find one for $300... :(

Thanks for all the help guys. I've already got a CQC7 and a couple Spydercos. looking for something nicer. Nothing against either of those brands, my emersons have saved my butt more than once. Not trying to start a war here but isn't Strider a dirty word in the U.S. now? Never had one and from what i read on here I think it might leave a bad taste in my mouth to buy one. Like i said not trying to stir the pot...

I have had several Striders, and they were all great knives. I had a problem with serious blade play in a PT, but Strider took care of that!!
