Update 07/27/16-- Mrs. Yangdu has contacted me and given tracking information which revealed that this situation was NOT her fault. She sent the knife the day after I ordered and USPS got the package all the way to my town, then instead of delivering, sent it back to Reno. Then for whatever reason, USPS sent it back to me again. This time it got to the next town over, and its been hostage there for 5 days now. I have contacted the PO and been told they will investigate.

In the mean time, Mrs. Yangdu has offered to send a replacement knife! Could not have expected better service and many thanks to her for that. She has gone out of her way multiple times now over an incident she had nothing to with. Hats off to Himalayan Imports. Truly, thanks. Will update again when I recieve the knife. Thanks again.
End update.

First off, if I have made this thread in haste please forgive me. Im new to HIs products and practices.

After much research I decided to order a CAK from HI. I ordered thursday of last week. I have had some trouble with my card lately so I emailed the next day to inquire as to whether the processing was successful. I recieved no reply. 2 days ago I sent another email inquiring as to processing and whether it was successful or if there was any update, as I received no confirmation email from HI. Again, no reply.

I understand people get busy and it doesnt hurt to wait and see what happens, but in 2016 I feel that answer customer emails/inquiries is commonplace. Forgive me if I have taken this to insult that my emails have gone unanswered. Is this normal practice for HI? I in no way mean to call anyone out, like I said ive never dealt with HI but have heard only great things. I have read countless times that shipping takes between 2 and 3 days, but nothing as to how they are with communication.

Any info is appreciated

ETA, mistake on date

Mrs. Martino may be busy with a sick family member. Shes a one person shop for the most part. Her dad just had surgery so that would probably explain the out of character behavior. Family first. She is a very understanding person and will definitely take good care of you. Id just send her another email in case your older one got buried in the process. Welcome to the Forum btw: Enjoy your CAK! Pics when you get it please:thumbup:

In addition to what ndoghouse said, sometimes emails just don't make it to her account. It's entirely possible that some IT mixup has been preventing your emails from making it through.

In case your email didn't get to her, I emailed her, and included your post.

I am sure she will get to you soon.

As others have said, she is a one person show, her family member just had surgery, and she has been unusually busy with orders lately.

Thank you for the quickly replies, I understand processing and shipping takes time, I just wondered if it was normal that there is no payment confirmation from the yahoo order store.

T Moore,

I have been busy taking care of my father and business. Email me your order details to himimp@aol.com
I will take care your knife order as soon as I can. Thank you for your patience

"I have read countless times that shipping takes between 2 and 3 days."

That's generally the *arrival time* if you're continental US. Auntie has underground connections in USPS. First blade she sent me made it from Reno to SC in two days. In my dealings, the only time she got delayed was when *I* messed up, and didn't attach my details/what the payment was for to PP. Once things settle down, you'll have it in hand in no time.

Sidenote, no offence, but "It's *current year*" really made me cringe.

Enjoy the CAK, it's a beautiful beastie.

I am in US. Shipping/waiting is not a concern, only wondered does my new card work.

Offence was not intended by this remark

HI is not an ordinary business. It might be less efficient in one or two ways, but for the most part it is far superior to the usual internet based business.

I don't know how the HI "order store" processes payments. I always order my HI blades from this subforum. Yangdu posts DOTDs (Deals Of The Day) here, usually two or three times a week, and the first person to send her an "I'll take it" email gets the blade. She then responds with the shipping charge. Sometimes she has one or two extra blades of the same type as a DOTD and will sell it for the same price to someone who missed out on the DOTD.

If you want a particular model and size and don't want to wait for a DOTD, you can email Yangdu and ask if she has what you want (or something similar) in stock. You'll be dealing with a human being, not a company or anonymous customer service rep, and a very nice human being at that.

The thing about the HI online store is that it's basically a snapshot of the most common HI models and sizes. There are many more models and sizes than are listed at the online store. Since the knives are handmade with traditional tools there is quite a bit of variation in length, weight and more subtle features, even for a given model. Also, the online store is not updated with the most current inventory, so when you order a particular model and size, it might or might not be in stock.

CAKs are usually in stock, since they are one of the most popular models. However, the size and/or weight might be different from what you saw at the online store. The handle type might be wood (several varieties of wood are used) or horn. If a CAK of the desired size isn't in stock, Yangdu might have an AK, which differs only in the handle style and is just as good, just as strong, and a bit better for cold climates where you don't want metal against your hand.

Good luck, and you can have confidence that Yangdu will take care of you.

Excellent info Davidf99, thank you. I say order store because i ordered from the yahoo checkout from the website. I didnt know about the forum here until I searched it, but I will post more actively now that I know of it. Thanks

Yangdu is amazing T! I started on their website a few years ago & got an AK as well for my first blade but this forum is really where all the goodies are :) get your blade, fall in love with the quality & we will see you back here shortly!!

FWIW I ordered yesterday, noticed my card had been charged but haven't received email confirmation. I found this forum and saw some family stuff was happening, no big deal. While excited to see my new knife, in the grand scheme of things a couple of days isn't that big of a deal. I'd rather the family stuff got sorted first.

Mr. More,
Im about 30 minutes east of Austin Texas and when ordering something in stock it will usually be two business days for me. Enjoy!

Others have ordered the same item days after I did and have recieved already, i still havent got an email back. What gives
