help please ... partially serrated, cheap and strong folder ???

all is in the title :D

i think an utilitac is a good choice but i would want another one ... under 50$ would be cool !

do you have any ideas ?

thanks :frog:

Half Serrated Tenacious? Your requirements are really vague, I could give you a list of 100 folders that fir that description, can you give use more requirements?

And what exactly do you mean by "strong"? "strong" "durable" "long lasting" are newbie terms, are you referring to the locking mechanism? :)

i mean strong ! :D... no, seriously i mean made for hard use (batoning for example).

required blade length : over 3-1/4"

Wouldn't recommend a folder for batoning, especially if that is the main purpose of it.

Having said that, several Cold Steel folders would be... okay for this, I guess.

Why not buy a small fixed blade if your goal is to baton with it? What is the fixation of batoning with a folding knife?

In the name of GAWWD, please do NOT baton with a folder, I have the scars to show why. Why do you want a 'strong' folder for? You didn't specify what the knife is for, EDC, camping, self-defense?

So i'm just going to give you a recommendation that is fool-proof , buy a Cold Steel Recon 1, 4 inch blade (AUS-8A), G10 handles, strong Triad-Lock, you can also get it in tanto. I'm sure it would appeal to you. Just make sure it's okay with mommy to buy this online.

batoning was an example ... more for camping ...

what cheap small fixed blade would you recommend for camping ? :o

Esse 3, 4. The izula is a great little knife and very easy to use but it is very small.
Skyco scrapivor is another great very small fixed blade. Any busses knife will be excellent for you.

Mora, if you have not bought a Mora yet you are missing out.
Buy the Mora Companion MG in carbon steel, 15 bucks. I've abused mine for a long time and it has held up perfectly, it holds its edge and sharpens up easily. I have used it for batoning and has performed well, but if you get a Mora and plan to do quite alot of batoning, get the Heavy Duty model of the Companion.
For 15 dollars you cannot go wrong. I have taken my Moras to the limits and they always perform better than I expect them to.

He wants one under 50 dollars, let him drive a good Chevy before he moves up to a Ferrari

I'm not a big CS fan nether.

I got a buck 722 spitfire and I've beat the crap out of it with no problems best of all it's only 30$ I find bucks backs lock to be just as strong if not stronger then cold steel also cold steel serrated are pretty week in my opinion and very very hard to sharpen.

Best of luck.

ZTD

PS: also the buck is made in USA and cold steel is made in Taiwan.

Bucks back lock is not as strong as the tri-ad lock. Period. No way.

The CS recon 1 is $40 or so, about $33 for the mini.

I agree. Cold steels serrations suck. They work great, but are near to impossible to sharpen.

I don't care where it's made, the CS recon is one hell of a great, tough knife.

Go look at bladehq video on Lock Strength In its test both cold steel and buck held 380 pounds and didn't break.

ZTD.

I don't believe a Buck 112 is anywhere near as strong as a Voyager. The little Voyager is a tank. The locking surfaces in the Buck are much smaller for starters, it has no stop pin and it has a brass pivot pin with brass bolsters.

The liner-lock Tenacious also held the full 380 lbs in their test... I don't think a Tenacious isn't as strong either.
