My elderly buddy recently gifted me his everyday carry. Although much appreciated I don't know what kind of buck it is. Any help would be greatly appreciated

As a registered user, you can post pictures using a picture hosting site. There are several free ones.
If you use imgur,
create a free account
Click <NEW POST>
Follow the directions to upload
Then go to the top right and mouse over your user name. That gives you a drop down.
Select "Images"
That will show all your images. Click the image you want to post, then to the right, copy the supplied BB code.
Then paste that directly into your post.

If you use another hosting site:
Once you have uploaded a picture to the hosting site, copy the web address of the picture. Note...

Yep, photos would speed things up immensely. Even a detailed description would help us help you. Is it a single blade, 2 or 3? I assume it's a folding knife. Does the blade lock open, and if so how does it unlock? Blade length?
