Matt, elephant ivory is illegal to import into this country as far as I know. Be careful, because if you do get some and don't have paperwork, you will lose all the knives you use it on and quite possibly a big fine.
I find some from time to time that was imported before the ban. I pay $50.00 a pound for it and make sure I get a lot of signatures when I buy it. I'm still taking a chance though. You may be able to find a larger figure that was imported pre-ban and checking the antique/junk shops you may find some very old piano keys that had ivory on it. Remember that if it is white, it's very likely wart hog and not elephant. The old elephant ivory will almost always be yellowed.
