As anyone out there had a chance to use the Howling Rat for camping, hunting, chores???is it to thick for slicing?? Looking for something that isnt going to let me down in the field....
Thanks for your help!!!!!!!!!!!!

buy with confidence! I've used, abused, and totally challenged my Holwler and it hasnt failed yet. I recently repaired the soffit (sp) on my house, I pried wood, nails, and anything else that got in the way (that darn tuff outdoor calk is one )

Its not too thick in any way, but I am a fat knife fan. ;)

If you want it to slice better, ask them to thin the edge for you when you order it. There is no charge for this service.

Hey Daniel,

The Howling Rat is the best knife EVER. You will absolutely not be disappointed in it's abilities as a slicer, chopper, and pryer. Extremely versatile blade.

Check out this little video clip of the Howling Rat in action!!

:D

I have absolutly killed my Bandicoot(thinner profile blade, but bassically the same thing) and it has come back every time....tough as....as....well, SR101:rolleyes: It is my every small chore camping knife. food prep is its most common duty....and it does it well.....tomatoes, onions, bread, salami, cheese.......(how can it not love to cut cheese:yawn: )....... it slices great. I am sure the HR is just as great.....you won't be dissappointed...John

I ordered one just six short weeks ago. Be prepared for a wait. But from everything I've read, it's worth it.

Thanks for the quick replies, ive been using my Dozier Wilderness D2 for over a year now but I dont want to over do it, and I dont want to worry about my knife failing me in the middle of nowhere..I always carry my sak and Brian Tighe custom but I count on my fixed blade to do alot of the work......It sounds like this would be the knife for me(at least for know).

You will not be disappointed in the Howling Rat. Extremely tough, and still a great blade for any chore you'd use a 4 inch knife for. I don't think it is too thick...

I love my Howler! It's a great knife. The blade is wide and thats why even though it's thick the knife slices without any problems. You will not be dissapointed.
