I bought a full size usmc kabar about a year ago. Its awesome but I got the serrated version cause I thought it looked cooler. Is there any way I can exchange it for the straight blade version

Im going to say no...but i really have no idea. Though i will say that serrations are not ideal for a hard use knife!! especially a KA-BAR!!!!

Yep... knifeworks.com will do it for you... for ~ $60.00. (and ya get ta keep the serrated one, too.) :D

Ask ToooJ, he has a sticky on the Forum.

A year old, and you want to change it for a different model, I'm gonna say no.

Kabar isn't in that kind of business, and really, you should contact who you bought it from instead.

Sell that one to a buddy, and go get the one you want.

If you're in the military, a partially-serrated edge is more handy than a full straight edge because a serrated edge will cut (or tear) even if it's not shaving sharp, and when you're under stress and losing your fine motor functions, not having to worry about not being able to cut the first time is a real load off your mind. I had a rather bad experience with a straight edge blade that wasn't properly maintained (typical military neglect for issued kit) and it was... unpleasant, to say the least.

If you're just camping in the woods and using your knife for recreation, straight edge all the way.
