I am a solider in the Seattle, WA area. I have 12 military sabers that belong to my unit which are in poor condition and need to be refinished. The sabers are historical items captured by my unit during the US Invasion of Panama. Does anyone have contact info on someone who can do this type of work. (The work will be paid for by the US Army.) Please respond to strueckj@soc.mil Thanks.

You may wish to ask on the Bernard Levine.
Otherwise, I know there are restoration outfits with websites.

There are quite a few makers up in that region that might be able to help out.Just to warn you that restoration can be time consuming as well as expensive, even if the Army is paying the tab.I have done a couple and just recently did an 1861 CSA sabre and it was a bear.More hours than I care to count, and I only did it because the customer was one of my best ones.Dave :)

just use 000 steel wool and gun oil =)

Thats all you need.

Dont completely restore it to new condition - it loses the antiquity that way.

Good luck,

-- Vince.
