so, I’m wanting to remove these scales on one of my blades, so I can re heat treat it. Can anyone recommend a somewhat easy way? I used gflex before I used the flared tubes. I’m wondering if it’s even worth trying. Or just easier to build a new knife! https://imgur.com/gallery/14d9jpr

Yeah, I agree. I’ve had handles where I ground through the scales. When you don’t need to save the handle material it’s an easy process with a 60 grit belt.

It doesn’t take more than a couple of minutes and you’re back at square one, ready to fit a new handle.

I was wanting to salvage the handles, but this seems like the easiest way. That’s probably what I’ll end up doing. Thanks guys!

I have successfully drilled out the tubes with a drill press. If you can grind off the top of one of the flared ends (I once successfully used the same countersink I had used for the relief) then you may be able to use a regular drill bit to drill through the rest. Sometimes the heat will make the epoxy let go and it will just twist out with the drill bit.

I might give it a shot. Thanks!
