Hello,

My grandson has asked me to help repair a folding knife belonging to his maternal grandfather that he received from his grandmother
after his grandfather had passed. The knife is a Schrade Scrimshaw SC507.

The steel pin on which the blade pivots is broken. How might I obtain a replacement pin?

Thanks for your help.

You'll have to make your own, the old Schrades were a different pivot pin size than the new. Schade's new owners don't have any old parts. Offhand, the pivot is around .125 round stainless or nickel silver stock.

.

At about 18 minutes in he explains about witches/slackners. If you've never replaced a pivot before, watch that part well, it's important :). Schrade lockbacks are standard construction, not Swinden Key, but the rest is good viewing.
