Help requested for Pocket Knife with unknown tool? Lutters and Cie - Sagen-Lohmann

Hello,

I have been looking online for what the 2nd tool on this knife might be used for. My thoughts were a type of a can opener(the knife is my dad's). I attached a few pictures in case anyone can figure it out and perhaps provide any history on it. I wasn't sure what forum to put this topic in, so hope this was ok.

I believe it is for cleaning a hoof before shoeing a horse. What did your father do?

Many thanks to the responses. as far as my father, he said it was given to him by someone in family, but to be honest I forget exactly.(Think his grandfather or father at least. My father is in his 70's) but unsure *when* it was given to him. That would have been helpful to me. I'll have to ask him again.

at least now we know what purpose that extra tool was for!
