I was looking for a ax and a hatchet for bushcraft and was looking at wetterlings and Gransfors but i cant afford those at the moment. So i wanted to restore an old ax and i figured i could get more bang for my buck. I was wondering where to look for old ax heads and handles. any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I've bought several off eBay with good results. Plumb, Kelly, Collins, Hults Bruks, True Temper (not the new ones) all have been pretty nice. I've been buying handles from House Handle (they have a cool YouTube video FYI) with good results. I've been getting the Grade A and paying extra to get hand selected ones.

Check out some local garage sales, pawn shops and flea markets, sometimes you can find some there.
