I need some help to know how to restore an old knife I recently acquired. It is an old Western L66. It was my grandfathers safari/hunting knife and I would like to be able to use it. I would like to know how to easily polish the blade and remove the, I believe copper oxidization. I would also like to grind the tip of the blade to give it more of a point. The only tools I have access to that might help are a Dremel and a grinding wheel. any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Leave the dremel and grinding wheel alone. Please!!
Rags and mineral oil to start with. 0000 steel wool lightly as necessary. A file and whetstone to re-point. Power tools are a big no no in cleaning up old knives. Usually do more damage than good. It was your grandfathers. Be nice to it.--KV
