Help! small rust spots

I use a polish called Wenol, a little on a wash cloth takes them off easily. I imagine many of the other polishes would work as well.

Oil and a rag. Active (red) rust will generally wipe right off if it hasn't sat for too long. The darker stuff underneath is stable and not something that I worry about.

If appearance matters, use a penny to scrape at the rust. The copper is far softer than any decent knife and won't damage the finish, although you may have to clean off copper smears afterward.

brasso or if its real bad a bit of fine steel wool and some rem oil. (Left it in my PFD pocket while kayaking, didn't check it for a day and had some pretty gnarly rust spots) short of that any light polish works well enough for me, usually start at brasso, then move to mothers mag polish with a rag, then start with fine steel wool.

you could also just use mineral oil...as long as the spots are fairly new it'll take 'em right off

Boys and girls--- You gotta wipe 'em down and apply a light coat of protectant or they're going to rust!
Is protectant a word? :p
