I like the SOG's looks better, but Boker appears to be a higher quality knife - anyone got thoughts on this issue?

I'd go with the SOG as it's more comfy doesn't have that annoying gaurd and is more concealable with a good aftermarket sheath. The Applegate is still good though.

The SOG Pentagon has an pretty good blade but it comes with a kraton handle, which is something that I'ld personally away from. It's more of a back-up for "when things go wrong" carry.
The Boker A-F on the other hand is more traditional in appearence (I speak of the Boot Knife varient) and is perfectly suitable on every account.

I know what you are going through... Do what I did and design one yourself and get someone to make it ;) It's better to get exactly what you want instd of getting something close to what you want.

Concealment is a relatively small factor. Check the blade steel's composition, the reputed Rc heat treat results, and the grip. The Pentagon is more in the boot knife style, the A/F a small combat blade designed by an experienced professional. The grip is specifically designed for hard use.

Most reviewers think the Boker A/F is the best version to be made yet, including the customs hand made a few years back. The Pentagon may be good, but I consider it a just another knife to fill out the lineup. I've heard it's somewhat popular with Federal level agents on a private purchase basis, but nobody seems to speak up for it.

Of course, it all really boils down to what you plan to do with it, and which matches that task set better. I see the A/F as a military duty knife in the field, the Pentagon as a companion to concealed carry - where laws allow. Fixed blades aren't always legal in a specific jurisdiction.

Both nice knives. The Dagger Bug just sorta got me. One problem with the Sog, though, it smells like it's been pickled in gasoline.

I would love to see a Pentagon in A2. AUS doesn't do it for me 440C or 154CM would work also.

I like daggers too. I've got the Pentagon and it's really nice, but it is highly specialized for self defense with its needle point.

I think a softer steel like AUS6 works really well since softer steels means the point would be less brittle and edge holding is less important in a combat blade

Opinions vary.

Like them both but the Boker Wins in my book. The Sog makes a great sgan dubh, but the boker's handle and heft are more satisfying to me.
