ok so here's what i was gonna do....i got my zt 0200 today....i almost got it sharpened like i want...i started to take the recurve out....i'm gonna go to lowe's tomorrow to get some tork screwdrivers....what size do i need?.....i am probably gonna get a set cause i have other kershaw's and spyderco's that i wanna take apart and do stuff to.....i am gonna strip the coating tomorrow and polish it with sandpaper........does anyone know-can u take the thumbstud off?....that'd make it easier to polish for sure.....also anyone know what size u need for the lahar?.....i am gonna work ont hat one tomorrow too....i will definately post pics when i am done...hopefully tomorrow or saturday......thanks guys.....ryan

for the ZT 0200--you need a 3/8th's hex wrench for the pivot screw. The for all other knives--T6 and T8.

I hammered out one side of my thumbstud on my 0300 a millimeter so my right thumb could engage the stud better--hold knife on a block of wood, and use something to cover thumbstud and hammer away... I think... maybe I wasn't supposed to but that's what I've heard...

Good luck!

ok so what th eheck is up with the torsion bars?....my knife ain't workin now...i took apart the needs work today too....that one little part is givin me trouble now.....ryan

We really need a sticky for some of these take-downs.

Pics would be nice so we could see what is out of place.
Can you post some pics?

i'll get somepics up soon....i keep taking it apart and putting back together to try and fix it.....i will take some pics soon though if i can't figure it out.....ryan

ohh and what's up with the grease and gunk inside....do u clean all that out?.....ryan

If you're talking about the torsion bar cavity, no.
It's pretty beneficial to have a little grease in there.

ohh shoot!>...i might have cleaned that out...so that cavity is for the torsion bar to slide in....that makes sense now.....ryan

what about grease under and around washers and stuff?....is that supposed to bet there.....when you guys take em apart do u clean it and put more grease on there.....???>....ryan

ohh and if u wanna make a sticky i would definately take pics of some of my knives disassembled

Yes, It's a good idea to put a dab of lube in the pivot area after you clean it.
Just a dab. To much will attract dirt, lint and other unwanted stuff that will
hinder the action.

Ryan, is this your first SpeedSafe, or the first time you've taken one apart? Pics would help!

it's th efirst time i've taken one apart....i have had a bunch but never taken them apart....i got adventurous today....i got caught up tonight but still couldn't fix it so pics are definately coming soon....luckily i got plenty of tother knives to use:D.....so what kind of grease do u guys use?.....i am guessing there is a special knife gunk?.....ryan

I recommend tuff-glide made by sentry solutions (or something like that), it comes in a tube with a long thin needle like tip. That way if you want to lube your knife you don't have to disassemble it. It is also good at fixing squeaky door hinges :D.

as i see the speed safe issue is being handled by brad and co. i just want to jot some stuff down when it comes to the Torx bits

The ZT has the hex head pivot. any adjustable wrench will work. the rest of the knife is T-8 torx.

As for the Lahar, be careful with it. the handle screws are T-6 and strip easily *at least in my experience* and the pivot is T-8. Be careful with it, and it will strip easily. *wow that came out wrong. ok guys, who makes this there sig line?*

Hope that helps man.

my lahar and zt are both back together but they are a litle tight sort of...there is a real fine line on tightening those screws huh?....ryan

If the blade is tight you could try loosening the pivot, if the pivot is a lot looser and the blade is still tight then you might should try loosening the handle screws, good luck
