Help! Thinking about a mini-Commander

Well I am considering the purchase of a mini Commander. I do not own any Emerson folders at this time. I do own a great Emerson PUK fixed blade. I have always loved the design of the Commander but never liked the larger size folder. Now I am considering the mini with a satin finish.
I have no idea about this so called pivot screw problem that some people mention and cannot decide between partially serrated or plain edge.
Give me some opinions on the mini Commander as an everyday carry user.
I currently rotate my collection of MOD folders as everyday carry blades.

Thanks!

Get the Mini commander. not sure about the problems that you might have heard of but I have handled several Mini Commanders and they were all free from any defects. the recurve blade shape is awesome for utility and has a lot of cutting power. personally the grip is the best feeling of any other knife I've held and just feels like part of my hand when I hold it. It's an awesome knife and I'd say go for it

you might have a wait though. i've been waiting for over a month for mine.

yeesh, its a production blade!

i just got my lagriffe though and really really like it! :)

Bimmer,
I wasn't all that psyched up about the mini-commander,but I ended up buyng one from the for sale forum. And you know what it's a great knife Satin blade 50/50. If you like the design of the commander but thought it was to big, you'll love the mini.

Bimmer,

I carry a 2002 BTS mini-commander every day. It's been about a month, and I am not nice to it. I don't abuse it, however I am not carefull to keep it looking pretty. It has performed flawlessly. I have decided it's the best production folder I have ever owned. I've used it so much that I needed to sharpen it 2 times. BTW, go to the Emerson site and use thier sharpening directions. They kick butt! It also helps if you use a black marker on the edge first, to make sure you are hitting the bevel at the right angle. Go out and get one. They rock!

I have not seen any problems with the 2002 Mini's
QC problems seem to have been in early 2001 and they were not that big IMHO.

On the mini Commander I had one but sold it and now I am kicking myself, its a long wait time to get one about 1 month seems the usual wait time. I have checked alot of places and all are sold out!

I am in the process of getting the Satin finish plain edge Mini.

Its a great knife you can't go wrong buying one. I love my full size Commanders but I tell you the mini is right there.

I bought a Commander and Mini Commander at the same time. After using both for a few weeks, the Mini Commander is my all time favorite folder. It is in my pocket at all times. An excellent first Emerson.

I actually just found a dealer that has some in stock and I couldn't help it... I went ahead and ordered one, black w/ plain-edge. I'm very intriqued by the design. What sold me on this knife is on the Emerson site; all parts of this knife are reportedly the same thickness as on the full-size Commander. This should be one tough little... Well, you know. From what I hear, Emerson's knives are some of THE BEST in the industry. Guess I'm gonna find out! :p
