Lockback Hunter

those are choices :) but i cannot decide which one to take,
i have Jack(Tidioute,3" closed)

and love it
but now i "need" one little bit bigger, any knife from above is somehow appealing to me,so i cannot chose "right"one, suggestions and comparison pics(or in hand) would be greatly appreciated..

Knife will be EDC,used for regular cutting tasks, occasional whittling and as hiking-camping buddy(second knife).

Well, I don´t have a GEC, til now ;)

But I would choose the first one. That knife looks very good. What´s its size?

That GEC you already have is great. I like wharnies... :)

Kind regards

Me too, lockback hunter all the way.
That primitive bone is really nice.

If you are already carrying the little Wharncliffe, I'd go with the toothpick-- great clip point, great in the hand and the pocket.

I have a pioneer. It's too big for comfortable EDC, but does fit the hiking-camping use. If you're in trapper mode i suggest the scout instead of the pioneer for EDC.

thanks to suggestions i narrowed choice between Hunter(not because of lock, but looks) and Gepetto(because Wharncliffe blade, and two springs),and Toothpick(don't have anything similar) :hypnotysed:

Of the three I would choose the Gepetto- it has the most diversity in blade shape (regular cutting tasks), is purpose built for whittling, and I have used my executive whittler camping and it held out great despite its thin and delicate appearance. You already have a single blade, why not go for a multi blade that has a master blade you are familiar with.

The lockback hunter was my second choice- different blade shape, more esthetic appeal to compare to your existing knife (pinched and grooved bolster, swedged blade, aged bone), lockback to compliment your slipjoint. Might as well diversify!

I presume the workmanship of Geppetto Whittler to be more complex
I presume GEC have meet their high standards to attain this challenge of a whittler
A stout main blade with two smaller blades

So...as the two brothers above have said the Geppetto Whittler

I'd go 57 whittler, 72 lockback, or 12 t'pick all the way. The others are too big for every day pocket carry, IMO. The GEC 'pick is quite nice and feels great in the hand, and is much more sturdy than any other t'pick I've ever seen. I will say, FWIW, I find the usefulness of the big spear blade of the 72 pretty limited.

I think it depends on if you're going to carry the #25 and the new knife or not. If you're carrying the #25, then I'd get the #12 or #72. If you're only carrying 1 knife, then, from your list, I'd take the #57.

Not on your list but if you're only carrying 1 knife, I would also consider a #53 Cuban Stockman or #66 Calf Roper. 3 blades on each and you get a replacement sheepsfoot like your #25.

For whittling I would take the #57, my choice would be the #72.
If your going to do some backpacking and hiking that #72 will offer a lot more blade for the bigger jobs. The added safety of a lockback is also a very tempting prospect for a camp knife.

I would completely agree with this. The 57 is a great little knife. It does pack a lot of blade for the size and the construction is really cool.

With that said, the handle is not going to fill your hand like a 72, it does not have a main blade to match the size of the 72 and it really does seem to be better as the small knife in your pocket then the main EDC. All IMO of course and your uses may vary.

:)

Thanks gents,:tranquillity:

Gepetto,is on order (but i still want others i listed)

The Geppetto just showed up on my radar a few days ago while looking at whittler patterns...darn these forums, they're costing me a fortune! :D
