Hi members,

I already tried to google but cannot find what I´m looking for:(

Can anyone help me to get the name / article number and maybe some pics of a vintage Gerber folder?

The knife I´m talkin´´bout must be around 20 or even 30 years old, it has a drop point blade, brass frame and dark wooden inlays (if I remember right).

I think it must have been produced in the same period as the following folding / fixed blade Gerbers:

and so on.

Any help will be VERY much appreciated.

Thanks in advance:thumbup:

I think your question would be very easy to answer, if only you could post a photo or scanner image of your knife.

Best Luck,
-Bob

Hi Bob,

that´s EXACTLY the problem...NO scans available, sorry.

I once had such a knife but there were no digicams on the market so far.;)

I have to add that the folder I´m searching for has a blade length of around 8 cm and FINGERGROOVES...were there SO many of them in the 80´s?

Can someone remember such a knife???

I think you may be talking about the old Gerber Magnum Lockback. (the big folder on the left & bottom of the pics - sorry about the lousy pics, just learning to use a digital camera) I bought the Gerber Magnum in the photo around 1979-1980. I believe they quit making them in the early-mid 80's.

The other brass framed knife in the photo is a Gerber Stag Sportsman I also bought in the late 70's. I occasionally see old Gerbers for sale on ebay - You might also try J Bruce Voyles Knife Site. Voyles knife auction site frequently has vintage Gerber and Puma knives up for auction.

It looks like Mick saved me the trouble of dragging my Magnum Folding Hunter out and taking a picture. ;)

Those are great old knives, especially if you don't mind carrying a brick (light they ain't).

Could it be the Gerber Classic? Like this one?

I just picked one up on e-bay to go with the user I've had since the 70s....

Hi Mick,

yes that´s the beauty I´ve been looking for, thank you:thumbup:

I visited the mentioned website but the search function is not for me...if I search for "Gerber" there are around 150 results. To klick on each of them is not my cup of coffee...I guess I´ll stick to the bay;)

...but not as heavy as my Al Mar Sere Attack 3003, huh?:D

I´m sure I´ll go for one of those Gerber "bricks"

what model is the one on the right in the first pic and bottom in the second?

Welcome swampyankee.

The one on the right is the Magnum Lockback. I believe Mick R. meant on the right and bottom. Not left.
