I'm a new member and want to rehab a 1950's era Kabar fixed blade knife. It is actually a knife I used and abused as a kid in Boy Scouts. Elbow grease and sharpening will go a long way but the end cap/pommel is missing and long gone. I have a few ideas for making-up a replacement from other materials, but I would like some input from more experienced folks here about how I might find a replacement or other ideas from older hands.
I emailed KA-BAR and they responded by saying they had no replacement for me.
The knife is approximately 7" overall with a 3.25" blade and a stacked leather grip.
It is marked "Kabar" at the base of the blade. No rust and it cleaned up very well. Just a darkened blade in places and marked up leather grip. It has the original leather sheath.
Thanks in advance for any help.
