Have a couple albums never to be put on CD commercially that I'd like to have on CD.

A newbie, what is the easiest way to do this?

I have turntable and amp.

Can I feed directly from turntable to computer? Special cable/jack required?

Do I have to go thru my amp first?

Thanks,
Mike

You can not go from the turntable to the computer, but you can go from your amp to the computer. Vinyl has to go through RIAA equalization (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RIAA_equalization) to recreate the proper sound. That's why your amp has a special turntable input.

Well, I suppose you could go straight to the computer, but you'd have to find a way to apply the proper equalization to the raw sound. A standard equalizer will not be up to the task.
