I am trying to see if I can possibly date and or find who made this knife. It has a stacked leather handle that’s about 3 3/4inches long with aluminum pommel. Brass blade guard with a blade about 4 3/4 inches long. Thin blood groove. Has sheath but I do not know if it was original or not. Only stamping is a blades base saying Japan.

I suspect generic knock off of a Western or similar. Posting a picture is the only way that you are likely to get any kind of reasonable answer.

I am new to this forum and the pictures were there before I hit post thread. May I ask the proper way to add them ? That is my bad.

You can upload your photos to an image hosting site like Imgur or Vgy or many others. Copy the url to your photo using the 7th icon from the right above the "reply" typing box. OR, just type the url into your post.

Your knife is probably a copy of a known US model knife ordered by a US Importer in the 60/70/early 80s. That the Importer's brand name does not appear on the blade suggests that the importer was not one of the major well known US companies at the time. Another possibility is that it could be a factory over run that was bought by an importer. In any case photos would help as there are folks here who may at least be able to identify at least what model it is based upon.
