Guys, I need some Quick advice...Mrs. CitizenQ is away at school for 2 weeks...she has 2 more days to go...finals on Sunday...and she gets home Sunday late...it's been really tough on her...in large part because she is not a very tough person and the work is hard. She just called me and told me one of her tooth veneers (in the very top front) came off. She can't get to the dentist until Monday and she is in a lot of pain. My first thought was the Where There Is No Dentist website, but the site is throwing a DNS error. Grrrrr.

She can't take Codiene (which I could get to her - she's about 2 hours away) because it will knock her out and she won't be able to do her school work...she is extremely sensitive to medication. What can I tell her to do for pain? What can I do to help her?

I sent her to a pharmacy to ask the phamacist for advice.

Suggestions?

And and all ideas would be greatly greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Cover the exposed nerve with parrifin, even candle wax. The wax candies would work, except they have sugar in them and you don't want that.

Many stores carry a thing called "Den-Temp" I belive it is called. A temp fix that can be mixed and applied.

Linkey-linkey

Also have her check into Oil of Clove. Works wonders on exposed toof nerves.

Been there, done that, got the relief.

Also found they have a product called "Recapit" here...http://www.dentemp.com/Recapit.htm

Oragel [sp] topical ointment ,local pain killer.
You probably mean this. Despite their assurances, however, that it might work up to one month, with a serious toothache I found I needed to reapply it every 4-5 hours. Still, it worked. It's available in just about every pharmacy without prescription.

i always have a dental repair kit around to handle soething like this, it comes with cavit and soem tools and instructions, i carry it when i will be where there is no dentist like africa or alaska hunting. i have not tried it but talked to my dentist and he says it wont hurt anything, as they uase similar materials when waiting for a permanent cap to get made up. i have seen them in pharmacies, and sportsmans guide sold them, as does compmor.

Hey Guys...

Ibuprohin (SP?) is Frigging Awesome for tooth pain..
When I get a bad tooth ache I take anywhere from 800-1200 mg of Advil or something like it..

At that dosage it will knock a toothache back,,nearly completely..
Make sure you eat something with them though,, or it will Rot your stomach...

Also check with your doctor if that doasge is safe for you...

there is a local anesthetic product called Orabase-B. it is sort of a paste, but it works better than the oragel in my experience. (also without the horrible oragel taste)

Aleve is my OTC painkiller of choice. when one of my wisdom teeth was giving me grief my dentist recommended Aleve. the naproxin sodium in Aleve is the same medicine perscribed for migraines.

good luck, and best wishes.
